Ender's Game

We have just had a rather lenghty power cut, during which I read (again) most of this book.

It reminds me of avoiding Chemistry homework...

Never Mind The Bollocks

This reminds me that sometimes it's good to let someone else put music on your iPod.

Juno

This reminds me of going to the movies on my own, so far, this is the only time I've done it.

Ruin Jonny's Bar Mitzvah

A live album of some style.

And it actually reminds me of a Bar Mitzvah I attended half my life ago.

Great food, the non-alcoholic, children's equivalent of a mucky pint and breathing helium from balloons. What more could a kid want?

A caricature too? Sure, go for it. A fine night out.

Band Of Brothers

This reminds me that every now and then, there will be a non-clown, non-moron ginger haired character portrayed on TV.

Every now and then...

Are You Experienced?

This reminds me of a Dutch radio station I used to listen to in Canterbury. They played great stuff, and I couldn't understand the adverts, which was a bonus.

Withnail And I

This reminds me that you should never watch something with people who know the dialogue word for word, it ruins the viewing experience.

Note: don't watch Super Troopers with me...

Championship Manager 01/02

Arguably the most addictive game ever made.

This reminds me of my computer at uni, which was barely adequate to run this game, but run it it did. A lot.

In the space of about 8-9 months, one game of this accumulated almost 50 days of actual gameplay.

Smoking may be addictive, but I challenge you to find someone who spends in excess of 20% of their time doing it!

Last Human

This reminds me of lessons at school that consisted of reading a book you bought in from home.

I was always reading Red Dwarf books in them. Better than the crap most people were reading by miles.

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Appetite For Destruction

This reminds me of the smell of mulch in the summertime.

Also the Virgin Radio "no repeat 9-5" which played Paradise City everyday.

Aladdin

An enjoyable game to play, but far too easy.

This reminds me of bizarre friends from secondary (high) school.

The Best Air Guitar Album In The World... Ever!

I think albums like this made it easier for me to make friends. My musical taste is seen as diabolical in most quarters, and I feel this acted as a bridge...

I Want To See The Moon

This was one of my favorite books as a very wee nipper. It reminds me of the things I loved back then; space, trains and dinosaurs. In that order. I was a born nerd, and proud.

I can't find a decent picture of the cover anywhere though.

Civilization II

The only time I can ever remember either of my parents taking an interest in a computer at all was the brief period Pops partook of Civ 2.

I remember the sound of constant dragoon/cavalry attacks driving Mumsie round the bend!

The Mysterious Cities Of Gold

Further golden kids TV from the 80's!

This one's so old I can pretty much just remember the music and the title sequence.

But I'm watching it now and it's still great!

Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow

This reminds me of right now.

20 mins in, and it is just awful

Metallica: Live At Woodstock '99

OK, not an actual CD (I think) but some of these tracks sent me on the path of listening to metal.

In particular, 'Fight Fire With Fire' is just awesome.

"Are you alive?"

Fear And Loathing: On The Campain Trail '72

This reminds me of riding the Q Train with the good people of Brooklyn.

Songs For The Deaf

For some reason this reminds me of riding a bike. Not something I do very often, but at uni I did occasionally.

One particular time springs to mind, coming down a hill in the rain with dodgy brakes after going to the pub after football...

Black VW pulls out and BAM!

NBA Jam

This reminds me that sometimes it's better to forego realism for computer games. NBA Jam was awesome, today's basketball games suck in comparison.

Perhaps cricket computer games could follow the lead of NBA Jam...

One Missed Call

This film is also dreadful. But it reminds me that sometimes something can be SO dreadful that it can actually be funny, and thus less dreadful because of how dreadful it is. Got that?

Awake

This is probably the worst movie ever made. It's definitely the worst movie I've ever seen.

This reminds me of the plans I had to invent a time machine so I could go back and tell my past self which movies aren't worth watching so I can save a bunch of cash.

Although when starring Hayden 'No Talent' Christensen and Jessica 'Dead Eyes' Alba, I really should've seen this one coming.

Is This It

This was the first and last time I let the musical influences of one of my parents sway my judgment. Never again, all these songs sound the same!

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Goldeneye

I was never a fan of shoot em ups until this game. Gold, if you'll pardon the pun.

Of course then it was ruined by people who learnt the re-spawn spots to the point where if you died once, it was game over.

Gnaaargh, damn people even nerdier than me!

Monday, April 6, 2009

Willy Fog

This reminds me of wordsmithery of the highest order.

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Accelerator

This reminds me of the glorius days when I could listen to Pandora and expand the music I listen too.

But being in England, as with many things in life, ruined that.

Saturday, April 4, 2009

High Fidelity

This reminds me of organizing music collections, and in particular the ridiculous, completely non-organized way in which Mumsie organizes her CD's.

There's nothing wrong with alphabetical order!

South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut

I just now got why the title of this film is what it is. I don't think it's ever taken anyone that long to get a joke before...

This movie is great and the soundtrack is inspired.

It reminds me of evenings where I had nothing to do, so put this on. Also of a friend that I bought this for on her birthday.

Mutter

A reminder of a crazy evening over 3 years ago. A pancake party gone mad!

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Gulag

This reminds me of jokes that never get old.

And I'm involved in A LOT of those.
